What Happens When You Fall At Work?

If you fall on the job and sustain an injury, it is important that you report it in writing to your employer right away. Be sure to identify what happened, any witnesses, and all body parts that were hurt. Many times injured workers do not report injuries immediately because they think that they will be fine soon. The problem with waiting to report an injury is that the worker’s compensation insurance carrier will often use late reporting against you.

While you think that you are trying to be a good employee and not make a fuss if the injury will resolve itself, the employer and insurance carrier use a delay in reporting an injury as a basis to deny your claim. The sooner you report your fall at work, the sooner there is a written record of what happened to you, and the sooner you receive treatment.
